New Resource: How School Boards Work 

To help explain the role of the board of education in the community, a new pamphlet is available on the IASB website. How School Boards Work provides insights into the functions of local boards of education, including the purpose of board meetings and the legal authority under which Illinois school boards operate. The pamphlet offers suggestions on how community members can address concerns and work with school boards to ensure local decisions about education programs align with their community’s needs. 

Several pamphlets and tools are available on the IASB website to assist not only IASB members but also the general public in understanding some basic principles of school governance and the role of a local school board.
