Conference, Training, and Events

Board training activities are held throughout the year. Many workshops are held at regional sites, some can be taken online, and still others are offered at the Joint Annual Conference.

Premier Training Experiences

There are many options and materials available to learn how to become an effective school board member. IASB has designed its training programs to accommodate individual interests and meet mandated state requirements, while making sure that all board members can access these resources in a variety of settings.

Joint Annual Conference

Every year, over 8,000 public school leaders and guests attend the Joint Annual Conference. Held in Chicago, the event is open to local board of education members, superintendents, school administrators, state and regional education officials, school attorneys, university professors, and vendors. Professional development is the primary purpose, offered through exhibits, panel presentations, workshops, general sessions, as well as the IASB Delegate Assembly and networking opportunities.

IASB Meetings and Events

Opportunities for school leaders to network and learn are offered throughout the year. The 21 IASB divisions hold governing meetings and spring and fall division meetings that are tailored to the professional development needs of the districts in those regions. The IASB Board of Directors meets quarterly.

The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.
