Services That Strengthen Board Governance
Through IASB membership, school districts can access specialized services that support effective governance, informed decision-making, and strong district leadership. These services include board policy support, conducting district searches for administrator positions, money-saving programs sponsored by IASB, and technology to assist boards with conducting efficient meetings.
In addition to the services highlighted below, board leadership teams can learn together through IASB In‑District Workshops, facilitated by expert Association staff. A number of hands-on workshop opportunities are available to address today’s governance challenges and can be tailored to meet local district needs.
Support for the Board’s Policy Role
Having sound, up-to-date policies are crucial to effective board governance. IASB offers a full range of policy services designed to meet your school board’s unique needs and align with the Association’s Foundational Principles of Effective Governance.
Recruiting & Selecting a Superintendent
Selecting a superintendent is arguably the most important decision a board of education will make. This leader directly impacts a district’s success, progress, and image. IASB’s Executive Search team brings years of experience, national affiliation, and local expertise to support boards through a search process.
Programs That Save Districts Money
IASB Sponsored Programs help districts reduce costs and secure competitive pricing on essential products and services. These programs are offered to districts through pooling or trust arrangements and often governed by the districts themselves.
Technology to Manage Board Meetings
IASB offers a web‑based application to help boards govern meetings more efficiently. BoardBook® Premier streamlines the preparation, distribution, and public posting of board materials—saving time and improving transparency.
School Law Resources and Member Support
IASB's Office of General Counsel drafts sample policies and procedures for the Policy Reference Educational Subscription Service (PRESS), supports members on legal matters having public policy implications through the Amicus Program, and contributes to many IASB programs and publications. The Association provides legal information and guidance resources to its members; however, it cannot provide legal advice. Member boards seeking specific legal advice should contact their board attorneys directly.
