Equity Webinar April 30
Join IASB for a webinar on Educational Equity: Equity Starts at the Top, to take place on April 30 at noon. Learn how Illinois school boards are driving their visions of equity and inclusion, and how they navigate challenges and still celebrate progress. IASB will share how the Association is prepared to assist members with workshops, webinars, and resources no matter where you are on your Equity Journey. IASB webinars are free as a benefit of membership and registration for Equity Starts at the Top is open.
Equity Immersion Returns to Conference Week in 2024
The Illinois Association of School Boards is announcing the renewal of the Equity Immersion, an event covering issues important to school leaders traveling on individual and district equity journeys. Each Equity Immersion features guest speakers, table conversations, resources, affinity groups, small group discussions, and celebrations. The 2024 Equity Immersion will again take place in advance of the Joint Annual Conference, on Thursday, November 21 in Chicago. Details will be published as available, and registration for the Equity Immersion will open on June 3 along with registration for the full Joint Annual Conference.
Resources Available
IASB offers a resource page for school board members and school districts as they do equity work. IASB defines Educational Equity as meaning “that every student has access to the educational resources and rigor they need at the right moment in their education, and students’ needs are not going unmet due to race, ethnicity, dominant language, disability, gender, sexual orientation, religion, family background, and/or family income” and work towards that end can be accessed at the Association’s Educational Equity page.
