Spotlight Sessions Announced for Conference

Joint Annual Conference participants will have the opportunity to attend one of two Spotlight Sessions on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 1:30 p.m. Spotlight Sessions are featured presentations on topics appealing to the ideals of the educational leadership community.
One Spotlight Session will be “Practical and Doable Climate Changers,” presented by Jim Burgett. This presentation shares collected wisdom from top-notch educational leaders, board members, and change agents. Discover what you can do to change the climate and improve the educational environment in your district. Jim Burgett is an educator, author, and difference-maker. He is president of The Burgett Group and an educator who has been recognized nationally for his ability to lead, motivate, inspire, and teach. He was twice named the administrator of the year in Illinois and has been a popular speaker and presenter for over twenty years.
Another Spotlight Session is “Generational Strategies: Because Education is Still About People,” presented by Chuck Underwood, Founder/Principal of The Generational Imperative, Inc. The two-hour session will look at how K-12 school boards deal directly with five unique American Generations, each with its own values, ideas, and demands regarding the performance of the local schools. Generational Strategies can help boards connect with their perspectives. Underwood, one of the pioneering scholars of generational study and strategy, will present the stories of the Silents, Baby Boomers, Gen-X, Millennials, and Gen-Z, plus tactics to deal successfully with each generation.
