Attendees at this year’s Joint Annual Conference in Chicago will have multiple opportunities to learn from experts in the field of school safety and security.
School Safety and Violent Event Incident Management and Reunification Overview is part of the Friday Focus collection of workshops. Located in the Sheraton Grand Chicago, registrants can attend one of two sessions offered in the morning or afternoon with Eric Arnold, Program Director of School and Campus Safety at the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board Executive Institute. Learn a framework used by schools, law enforcement, fire, and EMS to improve incident management and response integration, as well as get answers to critical questions board members and school leaders have.
Planning for When it Happens: School Safety is a Friday afternoon session located in the Hyatt East building of the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Learn about one school district’s response after experiencing a series of events on and off campus, and how their emergency procedures and preparedness changed as a result.
Trauma Informed Safety Plan, Stakeholder Supported, hosted by Lake Zurich CUSD 95, covers shared responsibility when it comes to safety and safety culture. Superintendent Kelley Gallt will share her district’s success story and resources, including a safety plan, training videos, and an engagement plan.
School Safety: A Shared Responsibility focuses on the responsibility of the community in keeping students safe. School leaders from West Aurora USD 129 will cover how to build community relationships and partners to build a comprehensive safety plan, with a clear philosophy for preparing for, responding to, and recovering from a crisis.
