ISBE Updates May 2023
 

Applications for the 2023-2024 Student Advisory Council (SAC) are now available from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). Students entering their fall semester as a sophomore, junior, or senior are eligible for selection. The application form includes essays and references and must be submitted by June 30. 
 

SAC was created in 1975 and includes a diverse group of young educational leaders from throughout the state who are passionate about creating change through legislation, policies, and rules. Each year, the members of the Council identify areas of focus and work with legislators, education leaders, and ISBE staff to provide recommendations on how to enhance and rethink current education policies and initiatives. More information about the Student Advisory Council can be found on the ISBE website.  
 

ISBE has revised the Evidence-Based Funding (EBF) Spending Plan for the 2024 Fiscal Year. A new template has been created to familiarize districts with the new format; however, this template is for review only and not meant to be submitted. The primary goal of the Spending Plan is to assist school districts and other organizational units with making resource allocation decisions.  

The EBF Spending Plan will appear as a new tab in the annual district budget form. A FY 2024 EBF Spending Plan webinar is scheduled for Tuesday, May 30 from 10-11 a.m. The webinar will review the revisions to the process, provide guidance for completing the required questions, and highlight instructions and timelines for submitting the necessary information.
