IASB Briefs 

The Illinois Association of School Boards is noting its summer schedule and upcoming key staff transitions. Plus, get ready for a refreshed IASB logo on July 5.  

Staff Changes
Dean Langdon, currently the Associate Executive Director for Board Development, is retiring as of June 30. Lori Grant will enter the role of Associate Executive Director of Board Development on July 1. 

As previously announced, IASB Executive Director Tom Bertrand is leaving IASB as of June 30 and will next lead the Consortium of State School Boards Association (COSSBA). On July 1, IASB’s current General Counsel, Kimberly Small, will be the Executive Director, leading the Association into its next phase of leadership. Jeremy Duffy has been hired as the new Deputy Executive Director and General Counsel starting July 5. IASB Senior Director of Policy Services Angie Powell will take on the role of Associate Executive Director, Policy Services.

Tom Leahy is retiring as Director of Executive Searches. He began with the Association as a Consultant in 2008 and has served as Director since 2016. Patricia Sullivan-Viniard, currently an Executive Searches Consultant, will take on Leahy’s role as Director of Executive Searches on July 1.  

Summer Schedule
IASB offices in Springfield and Lombard will be closed July 3 and 4 for the Independence Day holiday and two Fridays, July 14 and 21 as IASB observes its summer schedule.  

Logo Update 
The Illinois Association of School Boards will unveil a logo refresh to members, stakeholders, and the public on July 5. The new art will retain the primary identity font and brand colors. The logo transition will include a new Active Member logo for Illinois public school districts with board membership in IASB and a revised Service Associates logo.
