School leaders in Illinois and throughout the country are encouraged to participate in Public Schools Week 2023 from February 27-March 3. The annual campaign presents an opportunity for educators, parents, school board members, and communities to highlight and show support for local public schools.

For 2023, the Public Schools Week theme is part of a larger effort — #HerefortheKids — that “brings together families, educators, and community members to shine a light on local public schools and share the stories of the positive things happening in classrooms and school buildings nationwide,” according the Learning First Alliance (LFA) the group that organizes the campaign.

LFA has resources to assist public school advocates with telling their stories. A social media toolkit, several events, and numerous images and graphics can be found on the 2023 Public Schools Week website to help with outreach efforts. A series of webinars and social media chats is scheduled.

Groups and individuals wanting to join the conversation on social media can utilize #HerefortheKids and #PSW23. Illinois school board members who share success stories can tag “Illinois Association of School Boards” on Facebook or include @ILschoolboards in Tweets about Public Schools Week 2023.
