Contract Negotiations Continue in Evergreen Park, Peoria

The Illinois Education Labor Relations Board has posted contract offers from Evergreen Park SD 124 and its teachers. Negotiations that began in March 2022 have continued with a federal mediator since July. Issues to be resolved include salary increases based on the district’s financial situation. According to the district’s posting, “The Board’s offer also reflects its responsibility to be prudent with taxpayer money and its obligation to pull the district out of the financial distress it is currently facing.” The next scheduled meeting of the mediator and negotiation teams is September 7.
Also last week, the teachers union for Peoria Public Schools (PPS) has reportedly voted to authorize a strike. This requires the union to give a ten-day notice to strike if it determines to do so. A mediation session for PPS is also scheduled for September 7 and both the district and the teachers union are working to avoid a strike, according to the district.
