FALL SCHOOL OPENING GUIDANCE RELEASED

During a press briefing on Tuesday, June 23, Governor JB Pritzker outlined a plan for schools to open their doors to students in the fall. The guidance developed by the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Illinois State Board of Education can be found on the ISBE website.

The education omnibus bill, Senate Bill 1569 (Bertino-Tarrant, D-Plainfield), that was reported in IASB Legislative Report 101-21 has been signed into law and is now Public Act 101-0643. The guidance, along with new flexibility granted in the new law, will help school boards determine the best path for opening their school districts in the coming months.

Resolution Deadline Nears

The deadline to submit a resolution for consideration at the Illinois Association of School Boards’ Delegate Assembly is June 24th. As in years past, IASB has heard from many districts across the state dealing with the important issues facing school boards. The Resolutions Committee will meet on August 7th to discuss the all submitted resolutions. More information on the IASB Resolutions Process is available in this FAQ.
