IASB Strategic Priorities 2022-2024

Association efforts to serve members are guided by the following board-approved strategic priorities:

  • ENVISION and demonstrate EXCELLENCE in programs, services, educational opportunities, and support for IASB members resulting in high levels of member satisfaction.

IASB exists to serve members. Member satisfaction and engagement with IASB are vital to the financial health of the organization. Excellence in programs, services, and resources to membership ensures member engagement and return on investment to districts.

  • ENGAGE members and member districts with IASB staff, programs, resources, and services.

Engagement results in more confident, competent board members who effectively govern local schools and serve as advocates for quality public education for every child.

  • EMPOWER members to serve as effective, confident advocates for local school board governance, and quality public education for every student.

Locally elected school board members are well-positioned to advocate for quality public education for every child. IASB must provide members with the tools and timely information necessary for them to effectively advocate for their schools, for public education, and for success for every child.

  • EDUCATE the membership about best practices in board governance and monitoring practices aimed at ensuring excellence and educational opportunities for every student.

Promoting effective board governance is our mission. IASB must provide members with the tools and timely information necessary for them to effectively advocate for their schools, for public education, and for success for every child.

  • EVOLVE to provide timely and meaningful information, training, support, and resources necessary to meet the changing needs of members and member districts.

Past and current successes are no guarantee of future success. IASB must strive for continuous improvement to produce high levels of member engagement and satisfaction and to develop the skills of members to prepare for the future of public education.

  • Initiate, advocate for, and support efforts to ensure EQUITY, Diversity, Inclusion and Racial Justice within IASB, its membership, and PK-12 Schools.

Unequal access to educational opportunity along lines of race, class, and other aspects of identity has deep roots in American history, and contributes to inequitable access to educational opportunity in our country today. School board members are responsible for the “equitable and quality education of every student in the school district” and must act accordingly in their collective work as a board of education to foster excellence for every student. IASB undertakes equity work to provide its members with resources to develop their competence and confidence in support of educational equity.

As an organization IASB must live by the values it espouses with a commitment to maintaining a work environment that recognizes, understands, respects, and encourages the unique contributions of each employee of IASB.

The IASB Annual Report offers a snapshot of the important work of the Association during the fiscal year, which ends on June 30 of each year. The report highlights the many efforts to serve IASB members, as guided by the six Es: Envision, Engage, Empower, Educate, Evolve, and Equity.
