Division Meetings are Underway
All Illinois school board members are invited to attend a Division Meeting in their local area, and encouraged to take part in other divisions’ events if the topics or timing are a better fit. These meetings are a great opportunity to engage in meaningful learning and connect with fellow board members from across the state. To view the full schedule, visit the Division Meetings page on the IASB website.
Holly Jack Award Nominations Due
For the 2025 Holly Jack Outstanding Service Award, the deadline to submit application forms and nomination letters from the board president and district superintendent is September 15. Up to five additional letters of support from individuals may be included (at least one letter of support is required). More information about qualifying criteria is available in the application. Each year, IASB presents the Holly Jack Outstanding Service Award to one administrative professional who exhibits a passion for public education and goes above and beyond the expectations of their position. The award will be presented during the Administrative Professionals’ Program at the 2025 Joint Annual Conference on November 21.
De Los Santos Joins Policy Services Team
IASB welcomes Angela De Los Santos to the Policy Services staff as a Director. De Los Santos brings a wealth of policy experience to the Association. She started her policy career as a consultant for the Texas Association of School Boards and worked as a subject matter expert for BoardDocs, developing its policy solution and leading the team and operations that supported it. She has led other policy teams and consultancies in policy and strategic planning. She aims to “make policy and governance fun, so everyone is encouraged to engage.” De Los Santos joins IASB from Colorado and will be based in the Lombard office.
Resolutions Process Continues
The 2025 Resolutions Committee Report is now available. Three printed copies of the Resolutions Committee Report are being mailed to all member school boards to be distributed to the board president, the superintendent, and the delegate. The Resolutions Committee Report is also available online. The Resolutions Committee Report includes guidance for discussing proposed resolutions and constitutional amendments, as well as for selecting school board members to serve as delegates for the 2025 Delegate Assembly. Each IASB member school board is asked to select the delegate and alternate and register the delegate in advance.
