The 2025 Equity Immersion carries the theme, “The Power of Us: Storytelling for Just and Joyful Schools,” and offers school leaders a space to explore the unique narratives that define their districts and shape their communities.
The Equity Immersio
n, which takes place in conjunction with the Joint Annual Conference in Chicago, returns on November 20, the day before the official opening of the 2025 Conference. This professional development event, presented by IASB, is an opportunity to connect with fellow educational leaders passionate about equity in education.
At the heart of equity is the power of story. “The Power of Us” invites board members, administrators, and educators to begin learning to uncover authentic stories. Schools can build deeper trust, foster belonging, and inspire shared purpose. Through collective storytelling, move beyond data and policy to cultivate just and joyful learning communities. At the Equity Immersion:
The event features sessions with Executive Coach, Consultant, and Actor Jennie Moreau, as well as “The Power of Story” and workshops on ethical storytelling by Voice of Witness, an oral history nonprofit. Also included are conversations with ISBE and IASB on the Equity Journey Continuum and a performance by the Oak Park and River Forest High School Spoken Word Club.
More information and registration are available on the Equity Immersion section of the Joint Annual Conference website. The IASB Equity Immersion is available to individuals registered for the 2025 Joint Annual Conference. Individual school board members should contact their district administrator to register for the 2025 Equity Immersion.
