In-person training designed especially for new school board members will take place at three locations throughout the state on September 13. Super Saturday, the full-day learning opportunity in Collinsville, Peoria, and Naperville, will assist new board members with navigating the school governance landscape with tools and resources as they continue their school leadership journey.
Superintendents are encouraged to attend with their district board members for the day of camaraderie and professional development that will include a networking breakfast and lunch.
The Super Saturday agenda is as follows:
- Seven Things I Wish I'd Known My First Year – Words of wisdom from veteran board members.
- Your Role in Good Governance – What great board members do
- Legal Roundtable – Common scenarios board members face and a deep dive into the Open Meetings Act
- The Illinois Association of School Boards – Shining the light on YOUR professional organization.
- Your Role as an Advocate – Your voice matters
Additional networking and connection opportunities will be available throughout the day for those in attendance.
Registration remains open for all three locations: Collinsville, Naperville, and Peoria. The registration fee is $199 per attendee. Hotel reservation blocks are available at each location for those that plan to arrive on Friday, September 12. The deadline to register for a Super Saturday event is August 29.
