IASB Advocacy Day 03/24/2026

    Join us for IASB Advocacy Day! This event brings school board members together to elevate their voices at the state level. You will have the opportunity to meet with legislators and hear from panels of education leaders and policymakers to discuss key issues impacting public education and your school district’s students. By sharing your district’s perspective, you help ensure that lawmakers understand the real-world implications of their decisions on schools and communities. As a part of Advocacy Day and in the weeks leading up to the event, IASB will offer comprehensive legislative and advocacy training to ensure that school board members are equipped with the up-to-date information and necessary advocacy skills to make their meetings a success. In addition, Advocacy Day will provide valuable opportunities for networking and learning. Attendees will connect with fellow board members from across Illinois, exchange ideas, and attend committee meetings to gain insight into the policymaking process. Whether you’re an experienced advocate or new to legislative engagement, this day is designed to empower you with knowledge and relationships that will strengthen your role as an education leader.

Attendees at this event will receive 15 Board Leader Recognition Points.

Agenda:  

8:30-9:30 a.m. | Check-in, networking, and breakfast at the BOS Center  

9:30-11:45 a.m. | Legislator and education leader presentations on key IASB and Legislative Priorities  

11:45 a.m.-12:30 p.m. | Lunch and practice sessions  

12:30-3:30 p.m. | Meet with legislators and attend committee hearings at the Capitol  

3:30-5 p.m. | Networking reception at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel

We have a room block reserved at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel. 

For $25 a person, a charter bus is leaving from the IASB Lombard office at 6:30 a.m. the morning of the event. Please complete the Bus Interest Form if you would like to take the bus or contact Alie Lomeli, alomeli@iasb.com, for more information.
