IASB Offers Webinars for School Board Candidates

IASB is presenting a series of livestream webinars for school board candidates in advance of the April 6, 2027, Consolidated Election. The How to Navigate Running for School Board livestreams will cover the board member’s role, the statement of economic interests, and petition circulation and filing.

The four How to Navigate Running for School Board events will be open to IASB members and to the public. No membership or login is required. Each installment of the How to Navigate Running for School Board livestreams will be recorded and available for on-demand viewing after the live event.

All candidates are encouraged to visit IASB’s Information for Candidates and School Board Elections pages to view legal references, information including key dates on the next consolidated election, insights into the functions and responsibilities of boards of education, and Qualifications and Characteristics of a School Board Member.

How to Navigate Running for School Board Series

Understanding the Board Member's Role September 23 at noon
Presented by IASB staff, this webinar will provide school board candidates with an overview of a school board member’s responsibilities and an idea of what to expect if they are successful in the April election.

Petition Circulation October 7 at noon
IASB staff and Attorney Scott Uhler of Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins for a discussion about the election process, important dates and deadlines, and obligations for candidates.

Statement of Economic Interests Livestream October 21 at noon
Attorneys Heather Brickman and Benjamin Shaw of Hodges, Loizzi, Eisenhammer, Rodick & Kohn LLP will provide important information regarding the Statement of Economic Interests, its content, and candidates' obligations.

Petition Filing November 4 at noon
Attorney Jason Guisinger of Klein, Thorpe & Jenkins will join IASB staff to discuss petitions, how, when, where, and what to file, and navigating the objection process.
