The Illinois Council of School Attorneys (ICSA) has compiled an FAQ guidance document for Illinois school districts on the Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA). The publication is intended to assist districts in complying with the Act’s requirements by providing answers to 21 questions public school districts may encounter in regards to SOPPA. The FAQ covers key definitions, district responsibilities, public posting requirements and deadlines, impacts to school districts, enforcement, and more.
Boards of education are advised to consult their board attorney regarding the requirements in the Act.
