The IASB Resolutions Committee will meet in Springfield on Friday, August 7 to consider proposals submitted by Association member boards. On the agenda, four new resolutions and one amendment to a current position statement.

The new resolutions include:

An amendment to Position Statement 2.12 LOCAL TAX COLLECTION AND DISTRIBUTION was proposed by Mount Prospect School District 57.

The IASB Resolutions Committee is composed of Association members from each Division, as well as the IASB president, vice president, and immediate past president. The Committee will hear testimony from the boards of education that crafted and submitted resolutions, ask questions and debate each proposal, and then make a recommendation on each measure.

After the committee has completed its recommendations, a Resolutions Committee Report will be sent to each member district and posted on the IASB website. The report includes a summary and the Committee’s recommendation and voting rationale on each resolution.

The Delegate Assembly will meet on November 21 in Chicago in conjunction with the Joint Annual Conference to vote on the Resolutions Committee’s recommendations. Each IASB member district is entitled to one voting delegate at the meeting.

Position Statements adopted by the IASB Delegate Assembly determine the direction of IASB’s advocacy efforts and legislative agenda on behalf of members. Further information on the Resolutions Process is available on the IASB website.
