A planning team of IASB school board members and staff has completed two work sessions focused on identifying future priorities for the Association and how it can best support local school boards.
Through facilitated discussion and interactive sessions, participants reviewed feedback gathered earlier from members and partners during the first-phase listening sessions. Using that input, the group discussed key needs and explored ways IASB can respond to upcoming challenges and opportunities.
“I appreciated the thoughtful and candid input from our school board members about how IASB can continue to support them with advocacy, training, valued services, and opportunities for board members to connect and learn from one another,” said IASB Executive Director Kimberly A. Small, J.D. “I will use these ideas to help shape a multi-year plan that focuses on what matters most to our members and clearly shows progress.”
A draft plan will be shared with the IASB Board of Directors at its June business meeting. The Association expects to begin putting the new plan into action in late summer, aligning with the start of IASB’s 2027 fiscal year.

Work sessions were held March 20-21 and April 17-18 at IASB’s Springfield headquarters. Members of the core planning team included board members Elizabeth Fox Anvick (Bloomington SD 87), Wenda Hunt (Palatine CCSD 15), Jeffrey Johnson (Kewanee CUSD 229), Sue Kerr (School District U-46), Alva Kreutzer (THSD 214), Heather LoBue (O'Fallon THSD 203), Amanda McMillen (Naperville CUSD 203), Courtney Rodriguez (Galesburg CUSD 205), Tracie Sayre (Triopia CUSD 27), Marc Tepper (Kildeer-Countryside CCSD 96), Wilbur Tillman (Dolton SD 149), Matt Titus (Charleston CUSD 1), Chris Trzeciak (Homer CCSD 33C), Chad Weaver (Hutsonville CUSD 1); and IASB staff members Kimberly Small, Jeremy Duffy, Jennifer Feld, Kara Kienzler, and Angie Powell.
