Assistant Director-Governmental Relations, Springfield
The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is a not-for-profit association that provides training and services to public school boards. IASB is seeking applications for a full-time Assistant Director of Governmental Relations in our Springfield office. The position will be responsible for communicating member positions and concerns to the legislature, encouraging and facilitating school board involvement in all aspects of the legislative process, and providing information necessary to the full understanding of proposed legislation and its impact on local school boards.
Responsibilities will include direct lobbying of the Illinois General Assembly, analyzing legislation, writing position papers, testifying before legislative committees, and performing legislative research.

Qualifications include exceptional written and oral communication skills, and the ability to listen to and understand all opposing viewpoints. The position requires travel, and evening and weekend availability. A bachelor's degree is required.
