IASB Announces New Online Course
October 21, 2010

IASB will have another online course available by the first week of November. “Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure” is the title of the newest course to be offered through the LeaderShop Online Learning Center.

The Center was re-opened in the fall of 2009 to address board members’ need to access training anytime, anywhere at an affordable cost.   By offering training on the Internet in the comfort of a school leader's home or district office, members are able to get continuing education after work, on the weekend, “or any other time you can spare a few minutes to view a lesson online,” said Angela Peifer, Associate Executive Director for IASB Board Development.

The new course will bring to four the number of s elf-paced, online courses available to IASB members. Tuition will be $75 for the new course and, like the other online courses, it will be eligible for both LeaderShop Academy and Master Board Member credit.

Demonstrations of the LeaderShop Online Learning Center and the new “Introduction to Parliamentary Procedure” course will be offered at the Joint Annual Conference. Those eligible to take the course can also sign up for a raffle to give away one free online course to four winners.

The demonstrations and raffle will take place on Friday, Nov. 19, and Saturday, Nov. 20, in the Comiskey Room, Hyatt East Tower.

The other courses currently available online include:

  • School District Labor Relations: What Illinois Law Requires
  • Superintendent Evaluation
  • Media Relations
