The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the state’s school districts are preparing for the release to the public of the Illinois School Report Card. A preview of statewide data shows that students in Illinois are “rebounding” from pandemic-related declines in achievement and growth.

The 2022 Illinois School Report Cards was published on October 27.

The Illinois Report Card is an annual report …  that shows how the state, and each school and district, are progressing on a wide range of educational goals. The Report Card offers a complete picture of student and school performance in order to inform and empower families and communities as they support their local schools,” according to ISBE.

Summative designations will be calculated for 2022 for the first time since 2019, and information is amended in response to the impact of the pandemic. Information on accessing and interpreting the data can be found on the ISBE website

The Illinois School Report Card for 2022 includes, for the first time, the Equity Journey Continuum, which is a tool for tracking progress toward closing gaps in student achievement, opportunities, and supports. The tool applies an equity lens to existing data with the aim of improving outcomes for all students.

New data include Perkins Measures on graduation and academic proficiency rates, Career and Technical Education participant and program data, data on National Board Certified Teachers and teachers with gifted endorsement, counts of students not tested, and a measure of Proficiency Rate Accountability.
