Candidates running for school board in the April 4, 2023 Consolidated Election need to turn in their signed nominating petitions to the county clerk’s office or the county board of election commissioners. The filing period starts Monday, December 12, 2022 and continues through Monday, December 19.

These forms must include signatures from at least 50 qualified voters, or 10% of the voters residing within the district, whichever is fewer.

IASB is presenting a livestream webinar series entitled “How to Navigate Running for School Board” that is available to the public. The series resumes with a Petition Filing installment on November 30 at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the livestreams, the full series is being published for on-demand viewing.

In addition to nominating petitions, school board candidates must file a statement of candidacy and the receipt for their Statement of Economic Interests. Candidates filing in Cook County can visit the Cook County Clerk website for additional petition filing locations for candidates.

Additional information and resources for school board candidates is available on the IASB elections webpage.
