In anticipation of another school year that will require schools to be vigilant against the spread of COVID-19, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have adopted the updated guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
K-12 schools and early childhood education programs “should put in place a core set of infectious disease prevention strategies as part of their normal operations. The addition and layering of COVID-19-specific prevention strategies should be tied to COVID-19 Community Levels,” according to the CDC “Operational Guidance for K-12 Schools and Early Care and Education Programs to Support Safe In-Person Learning.”
The “IDPH & ISBE Joint Guidance for COVID-19 Prevention in Schools” webpage includes guidance documents and resources, including data and metrics, post-vaccination information, and a “Decision Tree for Symptomatic Individuals.”
