A tentative agreement for a multi-year contract was reached on February 10 by the negotiators in Sycamore CUSD 427. It will be presented to the membership of the union and the Sycamore Board of Education for consideration, according to the district website.
Proviso THSD 209 and its teachers met on February 8, with movement but no agreement. According to the district website, the district increased the term of the contract from two to three years and increased its proposed salary increases from 5% over two years to 6% over three years, The sides have agreed in concept to an eight-period day for all district schools and students beginning in 2022-2023. There is one additional negotiation session scheduled before February 18, which is the earliest date the teachers could strike.
Negotiations continue in Gen Geo Patton SD 133 in Riverdale. The next scheduled mediation session is February 15.

The Illinois Education Labor Relations Board (IELRB) has posted contract offers from Proviso THSD 209 and its teachers.
“The board of education remains hopeful that there are no other disruptions to the educational environment of our students and desires to avoid any more learning loss for our children as was suffered during remote learning,” according to the district’s filing.
The contract offers from the union and district were posted on February 3. Issues on the table include seven vs. eight-period days, class size, and salary/compensation. Proviso THSD 209 has three schools that serve approximately 4,200 high school students. The district employs 266 teachers.
Teachers in Sycamore CUSD 427 have filed an intent-to-strike notice. The first possible strike date is February 14 and negotiations are continuing. Sycamore’s IELRB posting was January 28.
