The 2022 resolutions process of the Illinois Association of School Boards continues on August 5 when the Resolutions Committee meets in Naperville.
The Resolutions Committee, comprised of one elected member from each of the Association’s 21 divisions, consults with the proposing boards of education, deliberates on each proposal, and makes recommendations to adopt or not adopt each measure.
This year, 16 resolutions were submitted by local boards of education, relating to school construction grants, mandates review, safe gun storage, and charter schools. The deadline for districts to submit resolutions was June 22. The Resolutions Committee is also considering changes for obsolete or duplicative position statement wording.
Once the committee has completed its recommendations, the next step in the resolutions process is a Resolutions Committee Report that will be distributed to each member district and posted on the IASB website. This report is intended to provide a summary of each measure to assist districts when deciding how to vote on the respective resolutions.
All changes will be voted on at the 2022 Delegate Assembly, details of which will be announced as they become available. The Delegate Assembly normally takes place at the Joint Annual Conference in Chicago.
Resolutions adopted by the IASB Delegate Assembly provide major policies for the Association and establish its stance on legislation and related matters of public policy.
