For more than a year, everyone has faced challenges to their daily lives that require some sacrifice and a different approach to doing the things that were previously part of normal schedules.

Our educators are no different and have seen their daily routines upended as much as anybody. Keeping students engaged for five-plus hours a day over a Zoom virtual chat is by no means an easy task.

May 3-7 is Teacher Appreciation Week, a chance to thank teachers for their work in educating two million Illinois students. Despite all of the recent challenges, our educators continue to ensure students have the skills and tools they need to be successful future leaders. They are pillars for our communities and invaluable assets to our children and schools.

Celebrate teachers throughout the week and recognize them on May 4, National Teacher Appreciation Day. Use the hashtag, #ThankATeacher on social media to honor our dedicated educators. Resources, artwork, and suggested activities to #ThankATeacher can be found on the National PTA website.
