The Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools (IARSS) has released its latest report on the educator shortage in Illinois.
Partnering with Goshen Education Consulting and higher education experts, IARSS surveys schools across the state about the shortage of educators. In the expanded 2020 report, numbers show that the shortage may have been at its worst in 2019. Data from 2020 demonstrated slightly improving, but still significant shortages and included the extenuating factor of the coronavirus pandemic.
IARSS’s report, 2020 Illinois Educator Shortage Survey: Is the Educator Shortage Getting Worse? Putting Results in Context by Bradford R. White and Thomas P. Withee, addresses the factors that influence educator shortages and present findings from the survey.
“It is vital for schools to have an adequate supply of high-quality educators, both quantity and quality,” states the report.
The report, plus additional information, including a dashboard and regional analyses, are available at the IARSS website.
