Accountability and Assessment Waivers
The U.S. Department of Education has indicated it will make some waivers available to schools this year.  Waivers will be accepted for accountability and school identification requirements, but not for spring assessments. Some assessment flexibility will be provided by the federal Department of Education, including allowing shortened assessments, remote administration of assessments, and an extended assessment window. The Illinois State  Board of Education had previously stated that they would apply for available school waivers, including a "blanket waiver of federally required assessments." Additional updates on assessment, accountability, and reporting requirements are available in this United States Department of Education memo

Vaccination Survey for Districts
The State Board of Education is asking districts to submit and update their vaccination numbers. Districts can also use the survey to update their current learning models: in-person, blended, or remote. The survey asks districts to identify the number of staff eligible to receive the vaccination, the number of staff that have received either one or two doses of vaccine, and what entity the majority of district employees plan to be vaccinated at.
