Upcoming Event: School Safety Threat Assessment Model

A collaborative effort between the Illinois Attorney General’s office, U.S. Secret Service, and the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program will offer a free virtual workshop on Friday, September 18.
The half-day training opportunity will begin at 9 a.m. and cover targeted school violence and the development of threat assessment teams. The National Threat Assessment Center will walk attendees through Enhancing School Safety Using A Threat Assessment Model, an eight-step guide developed from real scenarios.
Participants will learn to identify potential threats, behavioral indicators and triggers, risk management strategies and interventions to mitigate the risk of harmful outcomes, and about the new Illinois Safe 2 Help platform to report school safety concerns and threats.
Registration for the event is free and available to school officials and administrators, teachers, school resource officers, guidance counselors and school psychologists, mental health specialists, and others.
