IASB Announces Series of Events for Administrative Professionals

In November, IASB will present a series of webinars for those who perform the duties of the school board secretary or administrative assistant. These events replace the Administrative Professionals’ program normally held at the Joint Annual Conference. The conference has been canceled this year with gathering restrictions in place because of the coronavirus pandemic.
 
These sessions were developed to offer knowledge-building and assistance for administrative professionals working with the particular challenges of 2020. Although these three sessions are designed especially for the administrative professional, all members are welcome. The events include:
 
OMA Gray Areas and Pandemic Rules
Thursday, November 5, Noon-1 p.m.
How do you properly apply the Open Meetings Act to virtual meetings, board-attended retirement parties and events, personnel agendas, committees, and board emails? Learn how to navigate OMA’s gray areas and pandemic rules. Presented by Steven M. Richart, Attorney, Hodges Loizzi Eisenhammer Rodick & Kohn LLP.
 
Staying the Course: Compliance and COVID-19
and 2020 Holly Jack Award Presentation
Thursday, November 12, Noon-1 p.m.
Join this presentation event to discuss and gain insight into the wide variety of compliance services and supports provided to and for local schools and districts by their Regional Offices of Education and Intermediate Service Centers. Ample time will be reserved for Q&A. Presented by Mark Klaisner, Ed.D. and Steve Bogren from West 40 Intermediate Service Center #2.
 
A Taste of Equity: An Educational Imperative
Thursday, November 19, Noon-1 p.m.
It takes both personal and organizational change to create educational equity in a school district. Explore how YOU can assist in creating an equitable school district for ALL students. Presented by IASB Field Services Directors Sandra Kwasa and Dee Molinare, Ed.D. This session will also include the announcement of the 2020 Holly Jack Outstanding Service Award, presented by IASB Executive Director Tom Bertrand, Ph.D.
