“IASB's Response to the Coronavirus Emergency and Building Resilience in Students” is the latest webinar in IASB’s collection.
On March 18, IASB Executive Director Tom Bertrand and Deputy Executive Director Ben Schwarm offered current information regarding the unprecedented measures taken in response to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, and the impacts of those efforts on Illinois public schools.
Presenter Doug Bolton, Ph.D., presented advice on building resilience in students through trauma-informed practices. Noting that these are stressful times for children, and that the numbers of students affected by trauma are likely to rise, Bolton offered some good news: the impact of childhood trauma can be reversed. When engaging in trauma-informed practices, school districts are uniquely positioned to help students develop the resilience needed to overcome traumatic experiences in their lives.
