The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have released Part Two of the Transition Plan Advisory Workgroup’s recommendations for transitioning to in-person instruction. As announced on June 4 by State Superintendent of Education Carmen I. Ayala, the Part Two document focuses on the Restore Illinois Phase 3 allowable activities, including summer school, with health and safety guidelines in place.
Decisions around whether to conduct allowable activities during Phase 3 will remain at the discretion of local school boards and superintendents.
Part One, released in mid-May, focused on guidance for closing out the 2019-2020 school year and moving into the summer. The documents are the products of a 26-member working group that includes teachers, social workers, students, and administrators, and ISBE staff.
