IASBs Governmental Relations staff has created a series of videos highlighting action taken by the General Assembly during its recent four-day return to Springfield. The videos look at the major issues debated by State Senate and House members in the closing days of the 2020 spring session, and how the recently passed bills will impact K-12 public education.
Among the issues discussed are the Fiscal Year 2021 state spending plan and education funding. Other topics include allowing public bodies to hold meetings remotely during emergencies, property tax measures, contract bidding, allowing retired teachers to return to the classroom without diminished pension benefits, election changes, and Senate Bill 1569, which contains a number of elementary and secondary education initiatives.
The end of session recap videos can be found on the Legislative Reports webpage.
For additional legislative updates, join the IASB Government Relations team on June 8 at 11 a.m. for a live Legislative Session Review. Registration is free for IASB members.
