Deadlines Near for Placing Referenda on November Ballot

A few weeks remain for school districts to propose funding questions to voters in the next regularly scheduled election in November.
August 17 is the last day for a school board to adopt a resolution for binding public questions to appear on the ballot for the November 3, 2020 election (105 ILCS 5/9-1.5 and 10 ILCS 5/28-2). It is also the last day for boards to place advisory referenda on the ballot.
School districts have until August 27 for the board secretary to certify public policy questions to the election authority (10 ILCS 5/28-5).
