Celebrate Public Schools Week February 25-28

Public Schools Week is February 25-28, and school leaders are being asked to participate in Illinois and nationwide. This is an opportunity for educators, parents, and school board members to highlight the successes happening in their local public schools and voice support for public education.

Public Schools Week 2020 brings attention to the critical issues facing schools, students, and educators. In Illinois, 2 million students are educated in 3,872 public schools across 852 school districts. Nationwide, 90% of all students are educated in public schools, by 3.2 million teachers.

Learning First Alliance (LFA) has developed resources to assist with outreach efforts. The LFA website includes a social media toolkit, images, advocacy messages, and other ideas on ways to celebrate
Those joining the conversation on social media can follow #PublicSchoolProud, #PublicSchoolsWeek, and #PSW20. IASB will share Illinois district success stories. School leaders can tag “Illinois Association of School Boards” on Facebook or include @ILschoolboards in Tweets.
