    October 28, 2019

Join IASB in January for the new Trends in Collective Bargaining workshops, updated for 2020. Registration is open for the events, which will take place Saturday, January 25, 2020, from 9 a.m. to noon in three locations: Naperville, Springfield, and Mt. Vernon.

For 2020, each location will again include presentation and discussion on key and current collective bargaining issues such as

  • Compensation
  • Benefits
  • Working conditions
  • Minimum salary mandates
  • Regional topics in each area
  • And more

Trends in Collective Bargaining is designed specifically for school board members to learn and discuss key collective bargaining issues with legal experts. Scheduled presenters include

  • In Naperville, Shelli Anderson and Nicki Bazer from Franczek P.C.
  • In Springfield, David J. Braun and Brandon Wright from Miller, Tracy, Braun, Funk & Miller, Ltd.
  • And in Mt. Vernon, D. Shane Jones from Tueth Keeney Cooper Mohan Jackstadt P.C.

Key takeaways from the 2019 presentations included that bargaining for the school board is about patience, not control; how the Evidence-Based Funding formula enters into play; and the national and local pictures developing around labor issues.
