Featured Break-Out Options:

Option A: “Reflecting on the Board’s Communications and Community Engagement Tactics”

Join us for a taste of a recently developed IASB workshop that explores the board’s role when connecting with its community.

The featured presenter, Sandra Kwasa, IASB Director of Board Development, will share approaches and strategies that school boards may enact to foster productive dialogue with the community on a variety of topics and issues.

A question-answer period will occur, as time permits.

Option B: “Assessing and Addressing Student Mental Health Needs”

Societal and personal crises contribute to a rising population of students battling mental health challenges. In order for schools to fulfill their mission to educate, schools must respond to the needs of this student group by developing/advancing systems of support.

The featured presenter (Ashley Huey, School Social Worker, Johnston City CUSD 1) will provide insight on the realities of student mental health and possible avenues a district may consider reinforcing both student well-being and success.

A question-answer period will occur, as time permits.
