The Illinois Association of School Boards is seeking applicants for a part-time Director of Human Resources to work approximately 1,200 hours annually, less than 30 hours per week. This position reports to the Executive Director and can work from the Springfield or Lombard, Illinois office locations with some remote work flexibility.
The Director of Human Resources maintains and enhances the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations, human resources policies, programs, and practices. Responsibilities include advancing the strategic priorities of the Association and its commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion by leading the effort to attract, hire, and retain diverse talent; preparing and implementing materials related to employee recruitment, selection, induction, retention, and professional development; preparing and delivering internal and external job postings; collaborating with department heads to schedule and conduct interviews with candidates; developing an annual schedule for review of human resources policies, procedures, and practices; and conducting employee satisfaction surveys and other quality assessments as directed by the Executive Director.
Requirements for the position include a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, and a minimum of three years experience in Human Resources is preferred. Human resources certification or PHR/SHR designation preferred. Experience and knowledge include, but are not limited to, state, federal, and local employment laws; compensation and benefits; employee relations; recruitment and performance management. Demonstrated results and experience advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in an organization or relevant experience is also preferred.
