The Illinois Association of School Boards (IASB) is seeking applicants for a full-time director in the Governmental Relations Department in either of IASB’s office locations in Springfield or Lombard. This position reports to the Associate Executive Director, Governmental Relations.
The Director of Governmental Relations position coordinates the Association’s federal advocacy program, including directing Illinois’ participation in the Federal Relations Network; fosters improved relationships with members of Congress, members of the Illinois General Assembly, and school board members and administrators in the suburban Chicago area; and acts as the liaison to the Illinois State Board of Education. The position also provides support to the IASB Resolutions Committee; communicates Association member positions and concerns to the Illinois legislature, Congress, and state and federal regulatory agencies; encourages and facilitates school board involvement in the legislative process; and provides necessary information to give full understanding of proposed legislation and its impact on local school boards to Association membership.
