New state school board association website improves access, convenience for members and public

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Association of School Boards today announced the debut of a new website designed to strengthen user experience and improve school board member access to information and benefits.

Remaining at, the site features an all-new visual design, intuitive navigation, dynamic content, and streamlined integration with the Association management database and online learning platforms. The responsive design adapts to fit mobile and tablet devices.

“We wanted to produce a site that results in increased member engagement and satisfaction,” said IASB Executive Director Thomas E. Bertrand, Ph.D. “Excellence in programs, services, and resources to membership ensures return on investment to districts.”

Users will find the new website organized into five major categories: About Us; Conference, Training & Events; Membership & Divisions; Advocacy; and Policy Services & School Law. The five menu selections contain information and resources on school board training, elections, education laws, and school finance. Directories provide access to member districts, school attorneys, Service Associates, and school design projects; and various IASB publications and reports are accessible online.

Members can also log in to register for an event or online course, or access additional resources available as a benefit of membership. Policy Services subscribers will continue to access their services online on the new site.

“As an organization we continue to evolve to meet the needs of our members in an efficient, timely manner,” said Kara Kienzler, Associate Executive Director of Communications. “The new website will deliver meaningful information, training, support, and resources necessary to meet the changing needs of school board members and member districts.”

“We will use analytics and data to monitor site traffic with the goal of creating the ideal personal experience for our members. Our members require convenient access to training and other resources, which ultimately benefit local school districts and student outcomes.”

The Association partnered with, headquartered in Des Plaines, Illinois, for the design and development of the website.

The last redesign was in 2008. The website provides content tailored to school board members, administrators, school district secretaries, and school attorneys. Information also informs the public about the work of school boards, public education issues and trends, and legislation impacting schools.

IASB is a voluntary organization of local boards of education dedicated to strengthening public schools through local citizen control.
