The IASB Board of Directors establishes policies governing the Association and setting standards for its management and operations. Governance policies of the Board establish ends for the Association, including a statement of its mission, define the limits on executive authority of the staff, set forth Board procedures, and describe the Board-staff relationship. Taken together, these governance policies provide clear direction for the staff organization.
Although the governance policies of a non-for-profit association necessarily differ from those of a public school district, the IASB Board policies can provide considerable insight into the governance process for local boards of education.
Governance Policies of the IASB Board are presented here in portable document format (pdf) requiring the Adobe Acrobat Reader.
TIP: Be sure your Acrobat bookmark feature is activated. The bookmarks allow you to see an interactive index in a left-hand column as well as the policies themselves in a right-hand column. You can then go directly to any policy of interest to you or simply scroll down through all of the policies.
