A policy update and advisory service for Illinois School Boards — and it’s now published online.
What is the Policy Reference Education Subscription Service?
PRESS is a resource for school administrators, school boards, school attorneys, or anyone looking for well-reasoned sample policies and procedures plus the legal references and rationale supporting them. PRESS has two components: a Policy Reference Manual now published online and the periodic updates and revisions to it. Updates are currently published both online and in a printed version. View a sample policy with descriptions of the essential features.
What are some advantages of PRESS online?
PRESS Subscribers can:
- Access current policy information anytime on any day.
- Download sample policies and procedures.
- Jump to most legal references and all footnotes.
Why should your district subscribe to PRESS?
PRESS allows your school board to successfully perform an essential leadership function
the establishment of board policy. Your PRESS subscription gives board
members sample policies with accompanying information that help them focus on their
leadership role while complying with state and federal law. PRESS answers: What
are appropriate policy subjects? What is the impact of state or federal law? What should
be included in a policy and what left to administrative procedures? In addition, PRESS
gives your superintendent sample procedures that enhance proper policy implementation.
Does the IASB Policy Reference Manual (available through a PRESS subscription) replace
the local district policy manual?
The Policy Reference Manual is a resource for developing and improving the local
district policy manual; it is not a substitute. The Reference Manual is an encyclopedia of
policy and procedures for every school district, whether or not the district has used IASB
Policy Services.
How can our School Board become a PRESS subscriber?
It's easy. Click here for information and a form you can print and mail or Fax to get your district's subscription started.
