IASB POLICY SERVICES

BOARDBOOK
Tools: Print | Email

The Illinois Association of School Boards has established a partnership with the Texas Association of School Boards to make BoardBook – its online board agenda building service – available to IASB member districts.

What is BoardBook?

BoardBook is a web-based software application that streamlines the preparation, distribution and publishing of agendas packets. BoardBook builds a searchable archive of meeting packets and approved minutes. It opens the door to electronically distributing the agenda to the board, posting selected materials online, and conducting paperless meetings.

What are some of the benefits?

BoardBook can assist your district:

  • Save on costs for printing and copying
  • Reduce staff time required for preparation and distribution of agenda and supporting documents
  • Improve timeliness and availability of board meeting materials to school board members
  • Link to valuable IASB and local district resources
  • Share selected information with the community

What kinds of IASB resources will be linked to BoardBook?

BoardBook gives users one-click access to a variety of resources designed to help boards run efficient meetings and govern effectively. Resources include:

  • IASB governance documents
  • Pertinent legal and policy information, including Open Meetings Act requirements
  • Board meeting evaluation tools
  • Sample meeting agendas
  • Guidelines for taking meeting minutes
  • IASB calendar of events
  • And much, much more

Can our district add our own resources?

Yes. Any document that is available electronically can be directly linked into BoardBook. The district might want to consider linking to its:

  • Local policy manual
  • Annual planning calendar
  • Annual or strategic plan
  • Staff directory

What would we need to get started?

BoardBook is web-based and therefore requires no software installation. If your computer was purchased since 1998, you probably have everything you need on your desktop already. To get the most out of BoardBook, we recommend you have high-speed Internet access and a scanner that can produce PDFs.

The annual subscription includes personalized staff training, customization for your district, excellent telephone support service and online help features.

I'm interested. Where can I learn more?
