Sample Section 504 Procedures (February 2011) |
Section 504 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 U.S.C. §794) prohibits school districts receiving federal financial assistance from discriminating against an otherwise qualified student with a disability. Section 504 seeks to remove physical and programmatic barriers to participation in schools by disabled students.
Most, if not all, school districts already have procedures implementing Section 504. Franczek Radelet P.C. granted permission to IASB to publish their Section 504 Procedures as a sample and resource.
