Reasonable Access for Parents of Special Education Students - Sample Administrative Procedure and Request Form (Dec. 2009)
The parent of a student receiving special education services, or being evaluated for eligibility, must be afforded reasonable access to educational facilities, personnel, classrooms, and buildings. 105 ILCS 5/14-8.02(g-5), added by P.A. 96-657. The same right of access must be afforded an independent educational evaluator or a qualified professional retained by or on behalf of a parent or child.
The Illinois Council of School Attorneys and IASB have prepared the documents described below to help school districts and special education cooperatives comply with this law:
