2006-2007 Annual School Calendar |
Revised: October 17, 2006
The Annual School Calendar for 2006-2007published by IASB has been updated to
accommodate the following corrections:
- The school district must establish and implement procedures for evaluating principals no
later than February 1 of the year in which the principal's employment contract expires.
Otherwise, the contract is deemed renewed for another year. See Public
Act 94-1039, effective July 20, 2006.
- Federal legislation moves the start of Daylight Savings Time from April 1 to March 11 in
2007.
- The first day that prospective candidates for the 2007 school board election may
circulate nominating petitions for signature is November 7. The original calendar
listed November 8, which was incorrect.

NOTES:
- The IASB Annual Calendar is not being distributed in a printed version this year.
Putting it on the web instead makes it available more quickly and allows for revisions to
reflect any new legislation enacted or the correction of any errors. Subscribers to Online Update will be notified of any revisions.
If you find any errors in the calendar that need to be corrected, please email the
information to dsullivan@iasb.com.
- The annual calendar adopted by the school board must now be approved by the regional
superintendent of schools, as must any changes to the calendar, as provided in Public
Act 93-1036 in amending Section 10-19 of The School Code.
- Public
Act 94-875 makes a number of changes that are referenced at several dates in the
Annual Calendar. This Act is extremely large, so some relevant portions have been
excerpted on the IASB Web site for easy access by local school officials.
Specifically:
- PA 94-875 is cited at November 30
regarding new requirements bearing on the Annual Financial Report.
- The same Act is cited at July 10 and 25 and
August 15 regarding the filing of transportation claims with the state.
